Ultrasound A - Scan

Ultrasound impulses are sent through the maxillary sinus or the frontal sinus. The essential sound probe functions both as a sender and receiver of echoes, the particularities of which depend on the existing structures in the paranasal sinuses. Echoes are generated when the existing impedance is modified. They occur on the border between bones and tissue, bones and liquid as well as between all solid and liquid materials and air.

The higher the difference of impedance, the stronger the reflection. In a healthy, ventilated maxillary sinus the sound will be reflected completely at the front. There are no late echoes.

technical data

Mucous swellings, secretion retention, cysts or neoplastic modifications cause additional characteristic late echoes. The most significant of these come from the back of the maxillary sinus.

The simple and quickly exercisable ultrasound examination is a completely harmless method of visualizing the maxilla and the frontalis. It is suitable as a replacement or a supplementation of x-ray diagnostics, especially in children, pregnant women or to check the progression of sinusitis.
The HOMOTH ultrasound module combines the latest technology with high user-friendliness and serviceability. Four images can be saved and accessed to compare both halves. When switching from maxillary sinus to frontal sinus, scale and amplifications are changed accordingly.
All switching that is necessary for the examination can be done with a foot pedal.

There are four amplification processes available for the adjustment of depth regulation. Linear amplification can be adjusted freely both in the digital and the analogue mode.
